As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6,7

The apostle Paul was exhorting the Colossian brethren to beware of the tradition of men! Most are taught that tradition is good, but that depends upon whether it is good scripturally sound tradition, or a poisonous mix of man-centered doctrine or the Teachings of demons!

In the main-stream denominational churches, many are steeped in the traditions, doctrines and philosophies that have been passed down through the ages. Some are good but others are dangerous and even hinder people from being saved! For instance, the doctrine of salvation has been taught many ways and has deceived many over the years. Once saved always saved, vs saved, but with the possibility of losing it, predestination is another, where only certain ones are saved and so and so on!

Religion is a killer, and there are many who try and draw you away from true faith in Christ. Take for instance, the thief on the cross, this poor lad wouldn't have made Heaven in our modern day, doctrine filled churches. All he said to Jesus was, "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom!" He didn't pray a prayer, wasn't baptized, didn't take communion or mass and didn't join the church so how in the world did he get saved? He believed!

Beware, lest anyone cheat (plunder you or take you captive) you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world and not according to Christ. Colossians 2:8
