Elijah, a type of Christ came to Elisha, a type and shadow of the "Double Portion" church of the future and threw His mantle, (anointing) on him just as Jesus sent Holy Spirit on the 120 at Pentecost!
The twelve yoke of oxen represent the twelve apostles of the Lamb. When Elisha slaughtered his twelve oxen, boiled them and used his equipment to build the fire it represented the apostles dying to the world and then when Elisha gave the meat to the people it was a shadow of the twelve giving their lives to others as their servants.
Nearing his time when the Lord would take him up, Elijah asked Elisha, "Ask! What I may do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me." Then it happened, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire and the double portion anointing fell upon Elisha!
And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit (double portion anointing) and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:2-4
