For this reason we also, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Colossians 1:9
Being filled with the knowledge of His will depends upon how much of His word is in your heart, because His word is His will for you and the operation manual for spiritual life, without which you would go off course and end up spiritually shipwrecked.
Many today have discounted the wisdom and knowledge of His word available to the believer, instead relying upon the rhema or revelation given by the Holy Spirit. Rhema means utterance or spoken word, often times used by the Charismatics instead of learning first the sound doctrine found in scripture. Although the meaning of God's word is revealed to us by the leading of the Spirit, one must first learn what His word says lest he be deceived trying to discern who is speaking to him.
This doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit gives everyone a different interpretation of God's word because there is no private interpretation, it means what it means and the Holy Spirit only enlightens it in our spirit. In other words if an automobile mechanic relied solely on what he thought could fix your car without first reading the manual he could damage your vehicle as many have done being deemed "shadetree mechanics."
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10
