And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play." Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty three thousand dropped dead; nor let us test Christ, as some of them also tested, and were destroyed by serpents; (a type and shadow of demons) nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. I Corinthians 10:7-10

The wages of sin is death, in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament and sin has always brought judgment down on the heads of the wicked! In the Old Testament however they were cleansed by animal sacrifices, but in the New Testament we are dealing with the precious blood of Jesus!

When a believer sins willfully he puts to shame the blood of Christ and opens himself up to demonic oppression and even possession! My father used to say, "Possession is nine tenths of the law." In other words, whatever sin you are willfully choosing to commit can possess you and control you! Forget what you have seen in the movies or what some misguided preacher told you, "The wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience!"

This why most of the modern day church is dead, because they have refused to preach repentance, or speak of the blood, sin or deliverance, not wanting to offend their comfortable congregations filled with sinners who have never been saved! Remember, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, so, "Wise up!"

Now all these things happened to them as examples, and were written for our instruction upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. I Corinthians 10:11,12
