And you He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit, (demon) who now works (in) the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3

Ephesians 2:1-3
As new creations in Christ we don't walk according to the course of the world anymore, nor do we follow the powers of darkness because we have been set free by the washing and renewing of the blood of Jesus Christ!
We have been delivered from evil and the wickedness of the world by the power and glory of God! Washed in His blood, baptized into death, delivered and raised in newness of life, we are born again to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and empowered to be sons and daughters of the Most High!
This is why it is so important for us to remain pure in motive and in heart so that we don't give the powers of darkness an opportunity to gain a stronghold in our lives. We are no longer of this world but ambassadors of the heavenly realm, sent to bring down Heaven to earth!
But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7
