As Saul journeyed to Damascus to persecute the Way suddenly a light shone around him from Heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" Acts 9:3,4

Jesus established His New Testament church and appointed twelve disciples to be His master builders, becoming apostles to the Jews and now He was about to send the gospel to the Gentiles through His "Thirteenth Warrior!"

God must have a sense of humor to send the most religious Pharisee He could find, breathing threats to His own church and appoint him to go to a wild bunch of heathens with His gospel, but that is exactly what He did! Saul was a Pharisee of Pharisees, a religious sect of the Jews who were overseers of the temple, but for the most part many were corrupt and self righteous bigots!

Saul was no different, not knowing Jesus but having a zeal for religion he was a violent aggressor toward the newly formed assembly of Spirit filled believers! From the previous Devotionals, you have seen the power of transformation that the true gospel Message produces, changing even the most hardened sinners into saints!

"Saul is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel. "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake." Acts 9:15
