James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:1,2

James the Less or the Younger as he is called, son of Alpheus lived in Galilee, said to be the brother of the apostle Jude. There is very little written about James and tradition is sketchy at best concerning his life.

It is said that he wrote the book of James, preached in Palestine and Egypt and was crucified in Egypt. James was a man of strong character and one of the most fiery types. Some traditions say that he died a martyr by being sawed in pieces because his apostolic symbol was a saw.

As we look at the lives of these seemingly ordinary men we must realize that Jesus chose them to become apostles, the very government of His church and master builders of His spiritual temple on earth!

Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. I Corinthians 3:8,9
