Seeking the things of the world will greatly hinder your walk in the Spirit, but to seek those things above will enhance your spiritual journey. In the scripture, there is much said about loving the world and the things of it!
Our hearts are spiritual gardens that either produce good fruit, the fruit of the Spirit, or the fruit (deeds or works) of the flesh. The parable of the sower explains the different types of soil in which our heart contains and gives instruction of how to cultivate our spiritual garden! As it is to plant, cultivate and hoe an earthly garden, so it is with a spiritual garden.
The kind of seed planted determines what the garden produces, the seed of the Word produces life, and the fruit of the Spirit and the seed of this world and its lusts produce death! The Word is life and according to Hebrews it is living and active and when planted in good soil it produces the righteous fruit of the Holy Spirit!
But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13:23
