COMMITMENT
I beseech (urge) you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
As Jesus has given His life for us, we in turn give our lives to Him as a sacrifice of service in His kingdom. We are no longer our own because we have been redeemed with the blood of Christ and from that time our commitment is to Him!
Jesus said that whoever desires to follow Him must lay down their lives and take up their cross that crucifies the world to them. Many confess to know Him but few actually commit their lives to Him in obedience and service, instead, following their own worldly pursuits and desires. Salvation is not just being saved from Hell, it is our service to Him in the kingdom on earth giving of ourselves to His purposes.
A rich young ruler came to Jesus seeking eternal life but he wasn't willing to give up his riches in order to follow Him. Jesus didn't lead him in a prayer or baptize him like the preachers of today would and the boy left grieved and unless he later repented he went to Hell!
For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. II Corinthians 5:14,15
