Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: drunkenness and revelries. Galatians 5:21
The word revelries come from the French word reveler meaning to rebel and together denote noisy partying and drunkenness. It's one thing to celebrate and have a party, but to be involved in constant drunken revelry is a sinful habit that leads to alcoholism, immorality, and debauchery!
The recent concert in Houston led to a tragic ending where people were injured and several died. Many large events lead to a frenzied state of excitement and when thousands of people are packed together it can lead to abject panic! It seems someone was jabbing needles filled with drugs into people's necks which caused fear to escalate and the crowds ran to escape!
Any time people are partying with alcohol and drugs it can turn into a dangerous situation with shootings, gang fights and rape. The nightly news is full of stories of how seemingly harmless gatherings turn into deadly mayhem! The outcome of walking in the flesh leads to the broad road of eternal damnation!
Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:21
