Your Kingdom Come, Part V
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Matthew 6:12
As the old saying goes, we owed a debt we could not pay, He paid a debt He did not owe. Jesus paid the debt of sin for all of mankind on the cross, His blood being the ransom for us all. Forgiveness is the key to freedom, without which, one is held in bondage to unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment and hatred that often leads to murder.
If we do not forgive, the Lord will not forgive us and if we are not forgiven the line of divine communication is broken, leaving us to fend for ourselves, a dangerous position indeed. We have no right to hold people in bondage because of what they did to us, or what we think they did because Jesus paid the ultimate price for our release, forgiving everyone of their sins which is credited to their heavenly account upon their salvation by faith and repentance through His grace.
Has someone hurt you or wronged you, maybe taken advantage of you, robbed you or worse? Sure they have, everyone has had someone wrong them in some way, leaving an unforgiving spirit. The world is a hurtful place, full of hatred that has led to the demise of many who have let unforgiveness turn into disease and sickness leading to a bitter existence and premature death! You can free yourself right now by forgiving those whom you have held in bondage and by asking for the Lord to forgive you and wash you in His cleansing blood.
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6:14,15
