"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. "Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. "In this manner, therefore, pray: Matthew 6:7-9
The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, they didn't ask how to heal the sick, cast out demons or even how to raise the dead, they asked Him how to pray! Jesus therefore responded by telling them not to be like the heathen or the hypocrites wanting to be seen by men or by reciting some prayer repetitiously.
Jesus then instructed them to pray in this manner as He gave them a prayer that became exactly what He didn't want it to be, the most recited and misunderstood prayer ever prayed: "The Lord's Prayer." People all over the world and in every denomination recite this prayer as if reciting it would somehow provide a miracle or deliver someone, no, the prayer is intended to instruct us in seeking the Father and to give us steps in becoming obedient to Him and to repent of those things that hinder our prayer life.
Observe the steps to come before the throne of the Most High and receive the glorious benefits of the Father's mercy, grace and provision as you ascend into His presence. These following eight steps will allow you to pray and receive power and abundant answers to your prayers instead of being a traditional dead and lifeless oath of confession.
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Matthew 7:7,8
