Worshiping The Most High, Part V
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, "How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power, Your enemies submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name." Psalms 66:1-4
Israel learned to worship God and praise His name after they were delivered from the bondage of Egypt, led through the desert wastes and finally crossed the Jordan into the promised land. They were made to trust Him and from their experience and trial they learned that the joy of the Lord was their strength and that led them to worship and praise the Most High, for it is He who treads down their adversaries.
Throughout scripture God is our source, our provision and the Commander of the host, an enumerable company of angels sent to defeat our enemies. God inhabits the praises of His people and we should give all glory and honor to Him as He defends us from the powers of darkness. Worship and warfare go together as Israel learned in the wilderness and were about to experience as they crossed the Jordan to find the impenetrable walls of Jericho!
We would do well to examine the battles of Israel in order for us to war with our enemies in the power and might of the Most High God. We have been given spiritual weapons of war and praise and worship are some of the most powerful as we put our trust in God who goes before us into battle!
Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the river on foot. There we will rejoice in Him. Psalm 66:5,6
