Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?, Part IV
GENERATIONAL CURSES

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5: 12

The other day a woman came into our store where I was sitting and asked me to lay my hand on her back because she was having a spasm. I had known from previous encounters that this lady and her late husband had been chiropractors. When she asked me to lay my hand on her back, I'm naturally thinking that she wants me to pray for her. Then she starts rambling on about magnets and other remedies that she had known.

In preparation to pray for her I began to ask her if back pain was in her ancestry and if any of her relatives had experienced the same ailment. I then began to mention genetics and the possibility that she might have inherited a curse. This eighty- something year old lady jumped to her feet and began to tell me that no curse was on her and that she was a member of the original church of Christ and stormed out.

The simple fact of the matter is this, even medical science has proven that most illness is passed down from previous generations and usually your doctor will ask you when he is performing a diagnosis if any of your family members have had a disease that you are experiencing symptoms of.

The curse of sin, sickness and death began when Adam disobeyed God's command in the garden and the only thing that will stop it is the blood of Jesus Christ. This is the primary reason that Jesus came and died, to free us from the generational curse of sin and death. When a person becomes born again and receives the blood of Jesus by faith, his sins are forgiven but there are certain things in our lives that have to be dealt with on an individual basis.

According to Psalms 51: 5 David says that he was conceived in sin and brought forth in iniquity meaning that he inherited the sins of his forefathers. When Jesus died for our sins there was a process that He endured where He bled in seven places from the garden to the cross. Sickness was healed, generational curses were broken and sin was washed away.

Everyone that experiences the new birth knows that although he has been freed from a multitude of things that there are still plenty of things in our lives that have not been dealt with. In dealing with the deeds of the flesh spoken of in Galatians 5: 16-26 we see that many of these fruits of the flesh have come down to us from our fathers, such as alcohol and drug abuse, smoking or maybe anger. For instance the Irish are known for their anger and drunkenness, the English for their pride and the Italians for their lust for life.

Ever have someone say to you that you are just like your father? Well you are in that you inherited his attributes and the work of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Jesus will begin to regenerate and restore you back to the image of your spiritual Father, God.

There is a lot to learn about the effects of generational curses and how they effect our lives and our children's lives. If you are interested in learning more about this subject or would like me to share with your church or fellowship group please contact me. If you would like to order my Spiritual Warfare manual called ''The Knowledge of Good and Evil'' then please request it by mail or email for $12.00 plus $3.00 for postage.

I pray that Holy Spirit will open the eyes of your understanding and show you the path to true freedom from generational curses.

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. Romans 5:19
