Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved. Colossians 3:12

We know we are loved by God but the reality of us being holy is sometimes hard to believe. God dwells in unapproachable light surrounded by myriads of angelic beings while we live in a world filled with devils, robbing, killing and destroying!

The Greek word for holy is hagios meaning blameless, sacred or consecrated that describes our divinely inherited attributes that create within us holy behavior. Normally kids exude the behavior they see in their parents and we as spiritual children are to be holy as our Father in Heaven is holy! Jesus said that in order to see God we are to look at Him for He is God in the flesh.

As God's family we should look like Jesus, holy and blameless, shining as spiritual lights in a darkened world, displaying the nature and character of our Father to a lost and dying generation. Holiness is not earned, it is inherited and trying to earn it by religious works is legalism. So, be holy as your heavenly Father is holy!

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. I Peter 2:9

Your servant in Christ, Timothy Laughlin
