There Is A River, Part III
"If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." John 4:10
Living water is that which can only be given by the Lord Himself, to those who believe in Him and have committed their lives to Him. Jesus was telling the Samaritan woman at the well to give Him a drink when He knew full well that she had no living water within her to give. So it is today, people are dry and empty with nothing to give the lost because they have not kept their wells full of life giving water.
We as believers are responsible to keep our spirits full and overflowing so that we can water the earth with the life giving water of salvation. You wouldn't dare allow your car to be empty because you constantly check the gas gauge, nor would you allow the oil to slip below its recommended level knowing that it would damage the engine, then how is it that we pay absolutely no attention to our spiritual gas tanks?
Jesus has given us the responsibility to give out His living water and its up to us to be obedient in order for this lost world to receive a drink of this life giving water. There are multitudes of Samaritans seeking something to change their life trying to obtain something from the wells of the world instead of from the source of the river, the Lord Jesus Christ, in us!
"Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13,14
