The Unity Of Faith Part II

That we should no longer, be children, tossed to and fro and carried by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the Head - Christ. Ephesians 4:14,15

Jesus is the Head of the supernatural expression of Himself in the earth in us! The body of Christ is composed of born again believers, filled with His Spirit, washed in His blood and joined together by His love. Submitted under His divine authority the body moves about by the leading of His Spirit totally subjected to His will and not their own.

As the scripture says we are not to be children any longer under the bondage of human rule but that we should speak and understand the truth of His word and will and that is: Christ in us! The natural head of a man contains the brain that orchestrates every function of the human body just as Jesus, our supernatural Head does in the spiritual sense. The body is comprised of humans with different gifts that operate supernaturally in the Spirit that make up the exact representation of Christ in the earth and are so called to do what He did by carrying on the work of God. Like the many organs of the human body so also is the function of the supernatural body working together in perfect harmony with one another to fulfill God's plan for the human race.

Imagine what the Lord Jesus Christ looked liked as He walked the earth performing miracles of grace and power making disciples, exact replicas of Himself doing the work and multiplying throughout the world and compare it to what we have built today, is there any resemblance? The problem is that we have copied the old covenant pattern of the outdated priesthood that Jesus did away with on the cross and we have totally ignored the blueprint that He gave the apostles and so we have a temple on every corner with a high priest anda flock of dead and lifeless spectators trying to accomplish the great commission in the flesh and not by the design of the Spirit!

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16

The human body is joined together and held fast by ligaments allowing the life flow of blood to circulate throughout the entire being maintaining the health and strength of the individual. The body of Christ is so composed and is held together by the supernatural joints and ligaments of relationship receiving spiritual life from the Lord Jesus Christ as He so eloquently spoke of in John 15.

We as the joints supply life to one another and give life to the world because of the Spirit within us. Each one is gifted with a certain function that is necessary to maintain the constant life flow just as the individual organs of the human body do, and when one joint or organ suffer, the whole body suffers. The body of Christ is formed and held together by a solid relationship of believers joined to one another just as a man and woman are in marriage. As the body matures and the relationships solidify, spiritual children are birthed and the whole process of spiritual life is regenerated and continues to grow with a supernatural growth.

The body of Christ is a mystery in that it is a spiritual man, the"Bridegroom" and a spiritual woman, the "Bride" and united by the Holy Spirit and joined together it becomes a supernaturalfamily of God in the earth. Living in the power and authority of the Most High, the body moves throughout the earth in the very image and likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ establishing the kingdom of God and transforming individual lives!

And not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Colossians 2:19

There are diversities (various kinds) of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. I Corinthians 12:4-7

The gifts of the Holy Spirit have been given to the body of Christ for many reasons, to build up one another's faith, to show the world that Jesus is real and to empower the entire body to perform miracles of healing and deliverance in the same manner as their Lord. The body is so gifted that each one has an important part to play in the health and well being of the body of Christ.

Today in the church the gifts have been all but done away with, encouraging the promoting of individuals and their ministry, thus using His gifts for profit. Many have left the body because they were denied their God-given right to use their gifts and edify the church and ended up selling their wares on the street. Contrary to popular belief the Pastor is not the supreme authority in the church, Jesus is, and the pastors need to take their rightful position in the body and shepherd the sheep, and not dominate them or exercise false authority over them. Christ is the Head of a man and although there is legitimate oversight given to the body they are to be a plurality of elders totally submitted under the Headship of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Like the natural function of your individual organs in your human body that produce life, the spiritual gifts also produce life to the church and so they are to be used as the Spirit leads so that the entire body receives edification. Without the use of spiritual gifts operating in the body of Christ the body begins to shut down and begins to die thus giving way to a man being exalted as having the whole loaf instead of his own individual part.

For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. I Corinthians 12:12
