The To Be And Not To Be Attitudes, Part VII
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8
It is possible for one who walks with God to have a pure heart if he has not been clouded with deception or has been drawn away from his calling by the things of the world. Have you ever seen a pool of clear water or been diving and something stirs up the water and it becomes cloudy with mud where you cannot see? That is what happens when something clouds your vision!
Sin can also pollute your heart and draw you away from the pure devotion to the Lord. A divided heart is a dangerous thing to have in regards to your relationship with the Lord and a double minded man receives nothing from God. The question is, what is in your heart, is it filled with the worries of the world, lusts and pleasures, sports, or are you just focused on your own livelihood and life in general? Jesus said that the greatest command in the Word is to love God with all of your heart, something you have to choose to do.
God has always desired a people who would give their allegiance, their whole heart and even their life to Him in service in His kingdom here on earth. If the church of Jesus Christ would rise from their beds of complacency and total disdain for God, displayed by their actions and lack of any visible sign of being in love with Him, the world would be a very different place.
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart. Psalm 24:3,4
