"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
Everyone knows what it is like to be hungry or on a hot day, to be thirsty, but few will ever know what it is like to be starving as many around the world in third world countries do. In my short walk with the Lord and my spiritual journey this past thirty five years, sadly, I've seen very few who are hungry for God.
Oh, many say they are hungry for the things of God, His blessings of healing, deliverance and His divine provision, but how many actually have a hunger and thirst to be righteous as He is righteous? Jesus stated in Luke 4:4 when He was confronted by the devil to turn a stone into bread, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
True spiritual food as described in the gospel of John 6:47-58 is to eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God. In other words we are to hunger for the bread of life that feeds our spirit and makes us righteous by the transformation of our inner man and to drink the blood of the covenant which has the cleansing power to wash away our sins by the supernatural re-generation shed on the cross for us who believe.
"Most assuredly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life and I will raise Him up in the last day. "For My flesh is true food indeed and My blood is true drink indeed." John 6:53-55
