To Be Or Not To Be Attitudes, Part IV
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
The meek of this world go through life unnoticed, patiently waiting on God's favor and blessing, never asserting themselves, they are the quiet ones. They don't push and shove in a dog eat dog world and they don't mind being last because they know that one day they will be first!
Meekness is a divine attribute, not at all like the boisterous people of the world who shout out their opinions and always want to be at the top of the heap, but they are normally steadfast in their walk with God, never in a hurry to succeed, knowing they have something greater that awaits them. Meekness is a fruit of faith, a gift that allows peace in the midst of the storms of life while they seek to receive the answer to their prayers.
In the animal kingdom the sheep are the meek ones and the goats are those who butt at everything! When I grew up in the family business we sold equipment to meat packers and when they slaughtered sheep they had a goat they called the "Judas Goat." His job was to lead the sheep up a ramp to the kill floor and then he would exit and the sheep would be killed. When the knife was put to their throat they rarely made a sound, submitting to their demise in meekness.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, as a sheep before His shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. Isaiah 53:7
