The To Be And Not To Be Attitudes, Part II
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 5:3
To be poor in spirit means to be in need of God, to be humble and contrite, not prideful and arrogant, always seeking the true riches of the kingdom. The poor of this world are in desperate need of material things while those of the kingdom of God need more of Him!
We as believers are to be in constant communion with the Father, always seeking more of Him and His wisdom, knowledge and discernment. The wealth of Heaven awaits the poor beggar who will seek God with all of his heart and soul, always in a state of need, knowing God is opposed to the proud but gives grace, mercy and blessing to the humble.
There is a famine today in the church of Jesus Christ for the word of God and the things of the Spirit with everyone seeking their own wealth and livelihood. They are unconcerned for the true riches of God's heavenly realm and they starve themselves until they have absolutely no spiritual strength and begin to dry up and eventually blow away with the winds of the world.
As the deer pants (literally longs for) for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Psalm 42:1,2
