Restore to me the joy of my salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. Psalm 51:12,13
When we sin as David did we lose the joy of our salvation and our testimony is temporarily damaged because we are flooded with guilt and condemnation from the enemy. Sin destroys credibility and greatly hinders our ministry to others, but through the restoration process brought about by confession and repentance one can be totally restored by the Holy Spirit's ability to transform us.
Many a mighty man of God has succumbed to the seductions of the enemy and have fallen under the spell of the devil, myself included, but the power of God has the capability to restore that which has been lost, being washed again and renewed in the spirit of ones mind. In my own experience I felt like I was doomed forever, without hope and left to die alone because everyone left me, or so I thought, until I was led into the jail ministry and began to preach again and realized the Holy Spirit was still with me and men were once again transformed through me by the word of God!
The danger of sin is the loss of that which has been gained in ministry and the destruction it brings about to relationships, some that can never be restored, but if one can trust God, all things will indeed work together for your good and your testimony and ministry can be stronger than before if you endure the trial and overcome your sin. The devil is the accuser of the brethren and you will have a battle on your hands to conquer his attacks against you but if I can make it so can you in the name, power and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!
And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11
