The Ministry of Jesus
"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Matthew 25:31-36
The late Keith Green once said that the only difference between the sheep and the goats is what they did, and did not do! I believe that if a person is truly born again and has the Holy Spirit within him he will naturally have this God given compassion to help those in need because this is the ministry of Jesus.
The world has become a scary place in which to live and there are great needs everywhere you look, even in America, the land of plenty. People are losing their homes and jobs and many of the once secure "Middle Class" are a paycheck away from the streets and don't even realize it. The "Great Recession" as the media calls it has taken it's toll on this country and has effected the economy around the world.
The charitable organizations and food banks are depleted, violent crime has increased and millions of people are in a panic to find the answers to all these things coming upon the earth. It seems that all you hear in the media is about how bad the economy is, the job losses, and how many people are dying of various sicknesses as well as some new catastrophic event or horrible accident seen on the nightly news.
In the midst of this chaos and fear I can tell you what I think Jesus would say and do, He would have His people give! This is a time for the Christians of the world to truly shine in the face of certain disaster. It is time to quit talking about shifts and paradigms, new sounds and gold flakes and roll up our sleeves and join in the harvest. Most of the world is in a horrible state, dying from disease and hunger and worst of all, sinking into the pits of hell without the Savior's mercy and grace.
If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. Isaiah 58:10
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them"Depart in peace, be warmed and filled." but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? James 2:15,16
It is estimated that 24,000 people die every day from hunger and hunger related disease. According to the World Health Organization one third of the earth's population is starving. If these statistics are true that means that over 8,000,000 people die every year from starvation and how many of those are lost without Jesus?
The world's need is very great and even seems to be an impossible task but God said that all things are possible to those who believe. The problem is it is happening on our watch and we as His church will be judged by what we did and how we addressed the problem. It is not the government's job nor the secular organizations of the world, it is ours and ours alone!
The estimated figure to cure the world's hunger problem is $13 billion a year, a very small amount indeed when you compare it to what the U.S. and Europe spend on perfume on a yearly basis. If we as an evangelical community would just bring one can of food to church every week just think of what we could achieve, not to mention the opportunities to witness to the lost of the world.
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:17
"And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward." Matthew 10:42
Water is the basic necessity of life and without clean water we cannot exist and yet we treat it like there is no end to this precious resource. It is said that there are 884 million in the earth without a sustainable source for water and 2.5 billion without water for sanitation. In the U.S. we just turn on the tap and have water in abundance never thinking about those who go without.
Faucets left dripping, hoses left on, sprinkler systems watering the street, swimming pools filled and yet most of the world struggles for a drink of clean water. We have got to wake up as the people of God and begin to make provision for those in need and dying daily from the lack of clean water.
There is also a shortage of "Living water" freely given to us from the Lord Jesus Christ and expected to be given to a world lost and without hope. The lost of this world are dying of thirst for the water that can quench the fires of hell: living water, given freely to those that ask and believe.
"Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13,14
"If you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever." Jeremiah 7:6,7
America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. Sadly the only ones that are free are the white European descendants that settled here that brutally slaughtered the Indian, the Mexican, the Oriental, not to mention the African people that were enslaved and bred for profit. After all they were just ignorant savages, pagan idol worshipers and had no right to dwell in such a rich and fertile land.
From day one the white man has sought to dominate those that were deemed insignificant and unworthy to dwell with him as his equal. Subsequently, they were treated harshly, murdered, raped, enslaved or just run off their land, and in many cases all in the name of Christ. Truth, Justice and the American way!
What hypocrisy and arrogance to call the Mexican people illegal aliens trying to come back into a country that we ran them out of, then hired them to do our dirty work, then ran them out again. Talk about politically stupid! This country will be judged for its bloodshed and the way it has treated all these native Americans, Hispanics and African Americans not to mention the murder of fifty million innocent babies.
Fifty million innocent babies murdered and swept under the carpet of the law. Sculls crushed, brains sucked out, bodies ripped apart or burned by saline solution, left squirming in their blood in garbage cans to die a merciless death, all in the name of choice and profit. How can a holy God stand by and watch this and not bring judgment on such a depraved people?
For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13
"Is this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked to cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?" Isaiah 58:6,7
If you have not figured it out by now then I must tell you that we as the church of the living God are responsible to meet all of these needs that the world has. We are the only representation of Christ in the world, if He had wanted to meet these needs Himself He would have stayed on, but He chose us!
Sadly we have failed miserably to meet the needs of so many hurting people in many cases destitute of the basic necessities of life. Instead we have hidden ourselves away in our fortified cathedrals of religious ritual to drown out the cries of the lost and destitute of this world. Like a magnificent cruise ship sailing through the midst of humanity enjoying the delicious buffets and inspiring entertainment they never notice the souls sinking into the dark ocean of sin and sickness.
The world is sick and in need of a Savior, the hospitals are full, the prisons are full, not to mention the mental institutions and drug rehabs that operate at capacity and yet we as Christians have not scratched the surface when it comes to healing and restoring them. We have become complacent and have given them to the world.
The church of Jesus Christ should be a hospital for all that need to be healed and delivered and yet most are closed six days a week and are not set up to help anyone. Jesus went about doing good and healed all who were oppressed by the devil, but all we do is talk about it. Every true church of God should have a fully trained staff of individuals and ministries in place that can meet the needs of hurting people.
The time is now because the skies are beginning to grow dark with impending judgment on a sin sick world. It is not to late to repent and turn back to the ministry of Jesus, the way, the truth and the life of His body now on the earth!
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in the day of slaughter. You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you. James 5:1-6
Your servant in Christ, Tim Laughlin
Note: Please don't take this as a message of condemnation or judgment on the church, our intention is to address the problem and then offer training to correct it.
Our ministry vision is to train, equip and send those with a willing heart for service in the Kingdom of God to a lost and dying world in need of Jesus. We have had church long enough and now is the time to begin to be the church.
If you desire to fulfill your destiny and be trained in ministry then contact us or come to one of our Tuesday night meetings if you live in the DFW Metroplex. Thank you and may God speak deeply into your heart.
