The Mighty Pen Of Jesus

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

We don't often think of Jesus as being an author although everything that has been written in past ages about His kingdom has been inspired by His Spirit. The best selling of all best sellers is the Bible, His inspired word to the world written by men moved by the Holy Spirit.

I would dare say that almost everything we have experienced about knowing Him and walking in His kingdom originated by some inspired written word that we have read that changed our life. Christianity revolves around books, manuals and teachings of all kinds and within these written testimonies, commentaries and narratives the Holy Spirit brings about change in the hearts of mankind.

The old adage, "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword" is so true and relevant to our culture as believers in Christ with the exception that in the spiritual dimension the sword is the Word of the living God! Kingdoms have come and gone, wars have ravaged the planet, catastrophic events of all kinds have wreaked havoc throughout history but one thing stands forever settled in Heaven, the Word of God, penned by men moved by the Holy Spirit.

And we heard this voice which came from Heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. II Peter 1:18-21

Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. I Peter 1:23

The Bible is a bag that contains the supernatural seed that produces life in the hearts of men. It is amazing to me that the unbeliever cannot understand God's word until the seed is planted in his heart and watered by the Holy Spirit. Just a dry and dusty old book of laws and thou shalt nots, that is, until Holy Spirit gives revelation to it and it begins to sprout and bear fruit in a person's life!

Supernatural seed containing the divine DNA of the Lord Jesus Christ to be sown in the fertile fields of the hearts of mankind. Able to change any culture or any negative circumstance by it's power to redeem, the word of God penned and sown by his servants is the most dynamic weapon of mass destruction to the devil's kingdom of darkness in the world. Who would have ever imagined such a miraculous power contained in written words, revealed by the Holy Spirit, sown supernaturally by ordinary men and women in hearts would ever have existed this side of science fiction?

Sitting silently on nearly every book shelf, in every motel room drawer, available almost anywhere on the planet, this dynamic supernatural Word is waiting for someone like you to dare to open it, take it to heart and sow it into human hearts and change the world!

"All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass, the grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. I Peter 1:24,25

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. I Corinthians 3:6,7

The apostle Paul was no doubt one of the greatest and most well known authors and church planters of all time, bar none! His ministry seems to outshine even the apostles of the Lord, but Paul's greatest work was what he wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His letters to the churches were intended for little local fellowships and home groups and I doubt he ever expected the outcome of his writings to reach around the world as they did.

With this in mind, think about a lonely man sitting in his prison cell, or in a rented house writing his letters, not knowing if they would be received or even read and yet God had a glorious plan for his writing that Paul probably never became aware of. That should inspire you to sow the word of God into the hearts of men and see the supernatural growth that it brings forth. God expects us all to be sowers and reapers in His kingdom, it grieves me so to see countless believers just wasting their God given talents and opportunities to become powerful instruments of God's grace in His last great harvest!

What are you waiting for? How long have you sat and listened to someone else? You have been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom and God is expecting you as a believer to take up your sword, learn how to wield it and sow what Jesus wrote before the very foundations of the world were laid! The harvest is more than white and the laborers are less than few but the fact of the matter is this- "Jesus said to go!"

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15
