The Gospel Of Jesus Christ, Part IV
"There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one." Romans 3:9-12
Being good won't get you to Heaven, doing good deeds won't either, going to church won't make you a Christian and you can't get in with your grandmother's Sunday school pin! When you die you will stand alone on that day, either at the "Judgement Seat of Christ," for believers, or at the "Great White Throne Judgment" reserved for unrepentant sinners!
There was once a young man who had died and was standing at the entrance of the pearly gates to Heaven before Saint Peter with his car, trying to convince the old apostle to let him in, pointing to the bumper sticker on his car, which read: "Jesus is Lord!" Peter then said to him, "OK, your car can come in!" Most people today have never heard the true gospel of their salvation existing on refrigerator verses and warm fluffy messages of health, wealth and prosperity. Because the gospel has not been preached, people have equated salvation with being good, church membership and baptism that has created mega-churches full of lost spectators packing the auditoriums to hear how they can be champions of industry and successes in life, something diametrically opposed to the message of the cross of Christ!
John the baptist, Jesus, the apostle Paul and the rest of the apostles preached the true message of life to those who were willing to give up their lives for Christ, confessing and repenting of their sinful lives and surrendering to the leading of God's Spirit. If the message preached by the forefathers was preached today in most churches the members would be running for cover from the awesome presence and fear of the Lord. Many would think that this gospel they were hearing was foreign and so it would be to many who have never heard the truth that is able to set them free from the bondage of sin.
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty (accountable) before God. Therefore by the deeds (works) of the law no flesh will be justified (pardoned) in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19,20
