The Gospel According to Jesus, Part I
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the story of the salvation of all mankind, the most important revelation in all of history. The gospel reveals the only way that man can obtain eternal life. Throughout history man has sought to find God on his own terms, by his own means. The gospel reveals that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and ultimately the only way of salvation.
''I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. '' John 14 : 6
GOSPEL - The English word means good message or good news, the New Testament denotes the good tidings of the Kingdom of God and of salvation through Christ, to be received by faith, on the basis of His expiatory death, burial, resurrection and ascension.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the message of salvation for all of mankind, ordained of God before the foundation of the world. Inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by men for all of the world to receive. The gospel is not open for private interpretation or debate, sadly, man has tried to make it fit in his little box to make it either easier or harder, in some cases ,to receive. The gospel is not a buffet that one chooses to appease his appetite for only that which tastes good. The Word of God is a two - edged sword that cuts deeply into the heart of man and pierces his very conscience.
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2Peter 1: 19-21
John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare the way for the coming of the Lamb of God, Jesus, the savior of all of mankind. The prophets of old had spoken of the Messiah who was to take upon Himself the sins of the world, and now the time was fulfilled and His ministry was about to begin.
John was an unlikely candidate to prepare people to receive the King of all Kings, Jesus Christ the Son of God and Savior of the world, but he was God's choice. John's mission was to prepare people's hearts to receive the forgiveness of their sins and to convict them that they had broken God's law and were guilty to receive eternal damnation. As John preached and baptized the people, the religious leaders showed up to be baptized also, but he saw right through them knowing they were just seeking another religious ritual. John hurled a brutal indictment at them stating,''Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ''Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance.'' Matthew 3 : 7,8 . In other words repent of trying to live a life of dead religious works and receive a relationship with God.
Are you serving a dead religious system or do you know Jesus personally, not as a memorial to someone that died, but as a real person, alive in your heart? If you don't, you need to cry out for mercy and ask Him to forgive your sins and save you before its too late. God loves you and does not wish any to perish, but for everyone to come to the knowledge of the truth , to turn from an evil lifestyle and make Jesus the Lord of your life. Don't trust something you prayed years ago but never followed through with, trust only that you really know Him. DO YOU?
''And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.'' John 17:3
May God truly bless you throughout this Christmas season as you celebrate the birth of the only Savior, Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords....
