For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. Romans 1:16
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the message of salvation for all who accept its terms of entrance into the grace of God. Most people today think that because gospel means good news that all they have to do is pray a prayer and their ticket is punched for Heaven, but that couldn't be farther from the truth!
The good news of the gospel is the fact that your sins and iniquities can be washed away by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ if in fact, you repent and surrender your life and will to Him forever. Salvation is not a quick fix for mankind to escape the fires of Hell and live his life any way he pleases, it is a new birth involving the creation of a spiritual being under the total submission of Holy Spirit who in turn begins a work of total transformation in the new beleiver's life.
Metamorphosis describes the new birth of a spiritual man from a worm to a butterfly, in other words by faith a man is transformed from a man of dust to a supernatural being, recreated into the very nature and likeness of God! By receiving the supernatural seed of the word of God in ones heart enables the power of God to conceive the newly born again beleiver in Christ.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17
JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED BECAUSE OF OUR SIN
Moreover brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you- unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. I Corinthians 15:1-4
The crucifixtion has been blurred by religious tradition and the reality of this horrible method of execution has been pushed aside from the gospel because of its terrifying effects on the human mind. Today the cross is the universal symbol of Christianity worn around the necks of millions of professing believers who have put out of their minds the brutality of this cruel instrument of death.
Imagine wearing a jewel encrusted gas chamber, electric chair or a gold plated syringe used in lethal injection signifying your religious belief worn for all to see, I'm sure you would get some interesting comments about their meaning. The fact of the matter is this: Jesus was nailed to the cross because of mankind's sin and rebellion towards a holy God, deeply offended because of our defection from Him! Jesus was made sin on our behalf and cursed with every sickness and iniquity to give us a complete deliverance, not only from sin but from an eternity in Hell!
The very foundation of the gospel is the death, burial and ressurection of the Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on our behalf, brutally killed for our sin and raised to set us free from its deadly hold on our lives. The perfect sacrifice as an unblemished lamb led to the slaughter and made sin all for us, who deserved it, but rather took it upon Himself so that we could be made righteous!
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. II Corinthians 5:21
SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD
For the wrath (violent anger and rage) of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. Romans 1:18
In 1741 Jonathan Edwards preached a fiery sermon on the reality of sinners being enemies of God and destined for an eternity of torment and pain away from His holy presence. The truth is that man was separated from God by Adam's sin in the garden and eternally doomed unless repentance comes from a heart desperate for His forgiveness.
The Bible states that no one is good but God and mankind cannot save himself by charitable deeds, good works or good intentions and only by surrendering his will and repenting of an evil lifestyle can he hope to escape the fires of eternal damnation forever! Most people, even professing Christians when asked about salvation will tell you that they hope to enter eternal life because they have lived an exemplary life and tried to be a good person. That is a testimony of someone who simply doesn't know Jesus and does not have a relationship with Him!
Everyone will eventually stand before the presence of God and render an account of his or her life, if they are still in their sin at the time of death they will stand with all the rest destined for Hell at the Great White Throne Judgment, if they are born again they they will be judged for what they did in the Body at the Judgment Seat of Christ. It is imperative that you know without a doubt that your sins are forgiven, that you are washed in the Savior's blood and that you in fact have the very life of God within you, your eternal destination depends upon it!
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified (pardoned) by His blood, we shall be saved (delivered) from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:8-10
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are unsure about your eternal destination after reading this message be sure and contact us. If you have prayed a prayer and there was not a noticeable change in your life then more than likely you were co-hearsed and in fact weren't ready to be saved. Salvation can only come when God is drawing a person and brings about a conscious godly sorrow and conviction of sin leading to conversion, or a desperation to change ones life.
