The Fruit Of The Holy Spirit, Part VI

But the fruit of the Spirit is kindness. Galatians 5:22

As the world continues to spin out of control, I am afraid kindness is a fruit of the Spirit hard to find, even in the church. Jesus prophesied to His disciples that in the last days most people's love would grow cold and I believe we are in the midst of that happening around the world.

The nature and character of God is love which exudes kindness, even to unlovely people and we are to also be kind to everyone too, being sons and daughters of the Most High. Kindness defuses meanness and extinguishes the flames of the argumentative. Jesus said we are to even love our enemies, that we are to do good to evil and unreasonable people by displaying our God given nature to a world devoid of kindness.

Today its hard to be kind when everyone seems to be angry, impatient and in some cases downright mean. Just driving down the freeway can be a harrowing experience in the midst of what is now a daily threat from people who are caught up in road rage. We as the people of God are the only expression of the Lord Jesus most people will ever see and so we must be kind as He is kind and love those He has sent us to.

"But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil." Luke 6:35
