The Fruit Of The Holy Spirit, Part IV
But the fruit of the Spirit is peace. Galatians 5:22
Peace is that stillness in our spirit that keeps us from fear, and striving in the midst of the storms of life. Jesus had such a peace about Him that when He and His disciples encountered a storm in the midst of the sea, He was sound asleep and when they woke Him up He said, "Peace, be still" and the storm subsided.
The world doesn't have peace because they are ruled by their circumstances and they are the captains of their own ships, in other words they are controlling their own destiny, or so they think, until something that is out of their control comes into their life. The believer has the peace of God within his spirit and as he submits himself under the loving hand of the Father, surrendering control of his life, that peace begins to guard his mind and heart even when everything else seems to be out of control!
Within the mind and heart of man is where the battle rages against the powers of darkness and without the fruit of peace in our life we would be defeated by fear, doubt and unbelief. The peace of God encapsulates our heart and settles our mind so that we can rely on the promises of the Most High as we lift our requests up before His throne.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
