The Four C's of Fellowship Part IV
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 2:19-22
God dwells in the hearts and lives of believers that have come together to form a Holy habitation for Him to live in. A community of saints joined together by a common bond of love in the Spirit. Called out of the world and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ to serve Him and replicate His life in others, the body of Christ is a living breathing organism. As Jesus is the head of the church, his members make up His body to be the exact expression of Him in the earth.
A holy temple made of living stones fit together by that which every member supplies thereby giving life to the body. Once the body has been created by the power of the Holy Spirit drawing those that are chosen to serve, He fills it with fire that will ultimately light up the world with His presence. Trained, equipped and sent for service with a divine mandate to gather His children to inherit eternal life, the Body of Christ is a formidable force to be reckoned with.
To the intent now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ephesians 3:10,11
The body of Christ is made up of members and not cells as many would like to think. The human body loses millions of cells on a daily basis, but must rely on its members or vital organs to survive. So it is with the body of Christ, its members supply life to one another thus giving life to the body. When the members of the body function properly as God designed, it becomes a replica of the living Lord Jesus in the earth.
God has so composed the members of His body to function according to the gift that He has imparted to them. When Jesus is truly the head of the church and its members are functioning properly the power of God becomes available to do the greater works that Jesus promised. Unified and bound together with a common bond of love for Him and for one another the body of Christ will grow into a powerful expression of Jesus with the capability of performing miracles, signs and wonders.
When leadership and the members of Christ's body encircle Him with true devotion and adoration there is nothing that will be impossible to them. Casting down agendas and man made rituals, the power of the Holy Spirit will fill the "Temple of God" with the fire of His glory. Empowered with His Spirit and aflame with His passion for souls, the body of the living Lord Jesus will reap a mighty harvest from the vast sea of lost humanity.
BUILDING A SPIRITUAL HOUSE
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. I Peter 2:4,5
The church of Jesus Christ is built of living stone, men and women that have been washed in His blood and have given their lives as living sacrifices of His grace. Born again and filled with His Spirit this spiritual house begins to grow up in all things in Christ to become a royal priesthood of believers that will ultimately minister before the very throne of God.
The ekklesia of God, those called out of darkness into light are commissioned to become like their Savior and spread the gospel of salvation throughout the earth. Healing the sick, raising the dead and casting out demons the church, once fully equipped will be the most powerful entity in the world.
When the church begins to walk into the double portion anointing promised by the Lord Himself the world will truly see Jesus in us! As judgment falls in these last days the church will be strengthened and empowered to do the greater works that Jesus said we would do. As the fire fell at Pentecost so it will fall again on an uncompromised sold out community of believers.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. I Peter 2:9,10
