For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Hebrews 10:26-30

What in the world? We were just told not to miss church and now if we sin willfully we bust Hell wide open! What is the writer of Hebrews talking about? First of all when we sin willfully without repentance there is no forgiveness of sin, Jesus died and shed His blood for sin that was repented of and not willfully repeated without asking for forgiveness and repentance!

Jesus is the sacrifice for sin and without His blood we could not receive forgiveness. Rejecting the law of Moses is speaking of an incident in the wilderness where one was caught picking up sticks on the Sabbath to cook with, an unpardonable sin that carried the death sentence! The problem is they were dealing with the blood of animals for their sacrifice for sin of which was not available for willful sin, but we are dealing with the blood of Jesus!

Do you see the seriousness of willfully sinning against a holy God who's wrath breaks out against it? If one could be executed for picking up sticks in the Old Testament, what in the world would happen to those today who put to shame the precious blood of Jesus?

Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, the Lord will judge His people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! Hebrews 10:29-31
