"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:36-38

This is what is missing from modern day preaching, the breaking of His laws and the transgressions man has committed against the Most High, brought to light bringing conviction of their sins! Peter accused the Jews of crucifying the Lord because of their unrepentant hearts and it brought them to desperation crying out, "What shall we do!"

John the baptist preached repentance and the people cried out and were saved, the young preacher, Johnathon Edwards preached the message, "Sinners in the hands of an angry God!" and the conviction of it brought about a panic among the people who grabbed hold of the supports in the building crying out for mercy thinking they were sliding into Hell!

Peter's preaching carried the anointing of the Holy Spirit who had just fallen upon the disciples and it brought about conviction of sin among all who heard and 3000 were saved that day. Today after a benign sermon of God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life, with every head bowed and every eye closed, pray for Jesus to come into your heart and be you personal Savior, which by the way is found no where in scripture! The first words Jesus spoke when He began His ministry was, repent!

Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done among the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. Acts 2:43-45
