The Eight Appointments of God, Part III

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers. I Corinthians 12:28

The teacher is one of the most important gifts to the body of Christ and today it is much needed to dispel the darkness of false and dangerous doctrine. I have never seen so much pollution and downright poison dolled out by greedy men with ungodly motives, promoting their wares like door to door salesmen and because the people of God have no foundation in the word, they eat it up to their own demise.

The other day I was conversing with a man on Facebook about his attempt to keep the Sabbath, and when I questioned him about keeping the commandments, another man chimed in telling me that we are saved by keeping them, and we are born again when we die. I told him that he was deceived and for the sake of others reading the thread concluded my dialog with him, realizing I was getting no where. This is a major problem in the body of Christ because the teacher has not been allowed to lay a solid foundation, or the leadership wants every one to follow the Sunday school lesson sent from headquarters and so they only learn a history lesson without being rooted and grounded with sound doctrinal teaching!

The apostle Paul, laid a foundation as well as others in the New Testament concerning the way of salvation, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the ministry of the saints and the basic precepts of Christianity, without which we would just be a band of ignorant spectators listening to anything and everything given out, whether true or false which sadly is the case in most churches. If you are truly born again and washed in the Savior's blood and filled with His Spirit you will have within your heart a hunger for the truth of God's word and you need to seek out godly teachers and feed on the pure milk of the scriptures building a solid foundation of truth in your life.

But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue to in the things which you have learned and been assured of knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man (and woman) of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:13-17
