The Body Of Christ, A Reality, Part II
For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not a member of the body," Is it therefore not of the body? I Corinthians 12:14-16
Just as the human body has many members so the body of Christ also has many members and if one is not allowed to function, the operation of the body is hindered. Take for instance the hand and imagine losing one, or a foot, without which you could not walk properly. God so placed these important members in the body according to His will, even your little toe has a function, just stub it some time and see if your entire body is aware of it!
The most important part of the body is the head, without which the body would be lifeless and it also contains many important parts, such as the eyes, the ears, the nose, the taste buds, and the brain, and last but not least, the mouth in which to speak. Most would say today that the head is the senior pastor, something that does not exist in the New Testament and the word pastor only appears once and is never referenced as the head of the body. This fallacy has not only stopped the forward motion of the church, but has paralyzed it by totally dominating the natural function of the body by not allowing the individual members to operate in their God given gifts.
This is why there is no life in today's churches, with men setting themselves up as the head without considering they are resurrecting the old priesthood and with it, the ritualistic dead and lifeless structure that Jesus did away with. It's a pyramid scheme in which man is elevated to the top and the "underlings" just shut up and submit to his authority, and the body becomes a quadriplegic, totally unable to function as the Lord so designed it to. If you don't believe it, walk up to the podium and begin to preach next Sunday and see if you are not escorted out by the deacons!
But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is man, and the Head of Christ is God. I Corinthians 11:3
