The Believer's Guide to Spiritual Warfare Part XIX
Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:16,17
Aside from our ongoing war with the devil and the powers of darkness we have an enemy much more powerful than Satan, our flesh! It is a daily war to keep our flesh under restraint and walk in the Spirit. Many a man and woman of God have succumbed to the lusts and cravings of the flesh and have fallen headlong into the devil's hands!
Imagine yourself a spiritual being, which in fact, being born again, you are indeed, but also imagine a dead body chained to you as you attempt to walk in the Spirit. The apostle Paul mentioned a "Body of death" in his epistles to the church and it is a fact that the Romans would tie a corpse to a perfectly healthy person and the rotting flesh of the dead body would eventually kill them! So it is with us, we have our old nature tied to our spiritual man and we are told to crucify this old man and walk in the Spirit, immersed in His presence and divine nature!
If any man is in Christ he becomes a "New Creation," a "New Man," old things have passed away and behold all things become new! Sounds simple doesn't it, but the war of the flesh vs the Spirit will rage on until he is crucified, buried and completely done away with!
And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24,25
