THE NEW COVENANT OF COMMUNION
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you; that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." I Corinthians 11:23,24
We are new men and women, new creations in Christ, a supernatural race of divine beings, transformed by the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, Deliverer and our God! No longer just old sinners saved by grace, we are chosen by Him and precious in His sight!
The Lord's table reminds us of His sacrifice for us and our transformation as born again believers in Him. Knowing who we are in Christ is one of the most important revelations we can ever receive! We are no longer human in nature, born to die and buried in the ground, only to be forgotten for eternity. We are a new breed of supernatural ambassadors, endowed with power from on high, filled with His Holy Spirit and called out of darkness into His marvelous light!
Every time you partake of this communion of the Lord Jesus, remember who you are and to Whom you belong that will strengthen your resolve and cleanse your heart of all fear, doubt, and unbelief, knowing you are His beloved!
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes. I Corinthians 11:25,26
EATING AND DRINKING JUDGMENT
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. I Corinthians 11:27,28
The apostle Paul rebuked the Corinthian church for being divisive and eating and drinking before the others, defiling what was called the "Love Feast!" The table of the Lord was never to be a dead ritual as we have made it in these last days, as we have also made many other things including baptism. It was a time of fellowship, remembrance and celebration of that which the Lord Jesus has done for us!
If we were to duplicate what the table of the Lord was to look like, it would resemble the Passover meal in which everyone ate together and testified and worshiped the Lord, remembering His sacrificial death, burial and resurrection. We as the body of Christ have what no other religion has, a Savior who gave up His life to save ours and transformed us into His image. Our worship and adoration is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ for all that He did for us and to proclaim to the world His death until He returns!
The true church of Jesus Christ needs to restore the unity of the faith and seek the ancient paths that will lead us to holiness, righteousness and power. We are stewards of the mysteries of God, possessors of the keys to the very kingdom of the Most High, therefore we must revere this awesome, all powerful God, giving Him the honor and glory He deserves!
For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many dead. I Corinthians 11:29,30
THE FELLOWSHIP OF COMMUNION
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion (fellowship and sharing) of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion (fellowship and sharing) of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body, for we all partake of that one bread. I Corinthians 10:16,17
It is imperative that we as Christ's body know that we share in His life as well as His death, being one with Him. We also are one with each other in fellowship as we share our lives together in perfect unity, where there is great power and the peace (Shalom) that surpasses understanding!
As we commune with Him and with one another as One, the world will see and know that we are His followers. It is of the utmost that we maintain this celebratory feast by taking it as often as we can, remembering what has been done for us by the shedding of the blood of Christ. We are a chosen race, His own family, given all the blessings and benefits of the New Covenant written in the blood of Christ!
I exhort you to take this covenant meal with your spouse that will solidify your marriage as well as your health and divine prosperity. Everything in your life will become blessed by partaking of His communion and by appropriating all the benefits of His blood Covenant!
But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7
