Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe, that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (CSB)

Hope is what keeps a person moving forward in life, looking ahead to better things, but to lose it is a horrible thing to experience. I have always been positive and upbeat even before I came to the Lord and there have only been two times that I felt hopeless, the time just before I got saved and a few week ago when I was diagnosed with cancer!

The feeling I experienced after hearing the results of the biopsies was like receiving a death sentence. My life hung in limbo with all hope gone, my vision and mission for ministry was gone along with all my dreams and future plans, all up in smoke! I woke up in the valley of the shadow of death. Hopelessness flooded me, choking the spiritual life out of me, that is until I came to my senses and remembered who I was and to whom I belonged, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Hope began to well up in me, flooding my soul with the confident expectation of healing, deliverance and the reality of God's thousands of promises given to those who believe. Hopelessness began to flee, giving me the strength to believe again and stand on the word of the living God. The good Shepherd came to walk me through and out of the valley of the shadow of death.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. Psalm 91:1

Hope delivers us out from under the shadow of death to abide under the very shadow of God! I remember walking with my dad as a child and feeling confident and safe under the shadow of his six foot three frame, casting his shadow over me and knowing he was my protection.

Sadly, today many who are hopeless don't know the Lord and have never experienced being born again into a new and living way of peace, hope and love. They have never known all the promises God has given to those who would surrender their lives to the Lord Jesus who died that they might have life abundantly.

Many turn to suicide or drugs and alcohol to ease their pain and escape their hopelessness, only to end up in eternal darkness forever, away from the presence of God. If you are suffering from hopelessness and don't know the One who can restore you, heal you and give you hope, repent of your sinful life without God, ask Him to forgive you and wash you in His blood and give your life into His hands to lead you into eternal life.

"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:9,10

"Have faith in God. "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain. 'Be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." Mark 11:22,23

It doesn't get any more hopeless than your brother being deathly ill and you call for your friend Jesus to come and heal him, but He shows up four days late after your brother is dead and buried. Jesus told the sisters of His friend Lazarus that your brother will rise again!

That is what I call a mountain, a circumstance totally impossible to change, a man dead in the grave four days! Maybe to the natural mind this is impossible but for the Lord Jesus Christ, a miracle of resurrection power available to us all. Jesus called Lazarus up out of the grave and said to all who were standing there. "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

Do you have a mountain of hopelessness in your life, a bad diagnosis, a mountain of debt, a relationship gone south, the loss of a loved one, or a situation on the job? Trust me, there is hope if you are totally sold out to God, not just someone who takes Him off the shelf when in need, but a person who has made Jesus Lord! With all your heart, strength, soul and all of your mind, ask, believe and receive from your heavenly Father who loves you dearly and gave His Son for you to have abundant life and hope to overcome hopelessness!

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." Mark 11:24
