Supernatural Living, Part XIII

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:1,2

Jesus said much about casting out demons and the authority He gave us to do likewise, but today in our sophisticated and politically correct religion it is hardly ever mentioned. So, I guess Jesus cast them all out and didn't leave us any, huh? I can guarantee there are enough to go around, watched the nightly news lately?

We are inundated with demonic powers and influences throughout the world, but in America and the west, demons have seduced people into becoming interested in them, but on the other hand, not really believing they exist. They exist alright, from your kid's cartoons to the nightly news, to just about every movie shown today, there is some kind of demonic influence. In the last fifty years, witchcraft, sorcery and divination have come out of the closet along with magic and zombies, the walking dead, chainsaw massacres and brutal and bloody displays of murder, mayhem and mutilation of all kinds. Take Harry Potter for instance, a tool for your kid to sharpen his reading skills, or a training manual for casting spells?

The church for the most part has rejected the ministry of deliverance because it is too messy, it runs off those big tithers who come to be entertained by our religious spectacles, passion plays, drama and praise teams, and after all, someone has to pay the bills for an overly expensive non-functional religious business, only open one day a week! Sound like something Jesus would be around if He were on the scene today, I think not. I spoke to a friend the other day who was involved in the healing and deliverance ministry in one of the largest churches here in the Metroplex and she was asked to quit dealing with certain spirits, but what he was really saying was: back off! She did, she left! A sad testimony for today's church!

"And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them." So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. Luke 9:5,6
