Spiritual Gifts, Part V

To another faith by the same Spirit. I Corinthians 12:9

Although every believer has a measure of faith there are some who have a gift of faith which gives them a supernatural ability to believe God for extraordinary things. There was once a plummer in England who was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, named Smith Wigglesworth, who I believe had the gift of faith.

This man of God prayed for the sick, cast out demons and raised the dead and was highly respected for his supernatural ability to take God at His word and act on it. One such circumstance was when Smith went to the wake of one of his friends who had died. He walked in among the grieving family jerked the guy out of the casket, stood him up against the wall and said, "Live in the name of Jesus!" The dead man fell to the floor and Smith proceeded to do this three times in the sight of all when finally they walked out of the funeral home together, the man was raised from the dead!

Another great man of faith was George Muller, a German who was a hell raiser in college but got saved and began an astonishing walk of faith. George began pastoring a church when he made a vow not to ask men for money, nor would he take an offering, but chose to take God at His word for all of his provision and livelihood. His greatest work of faith was to open homes throughout England at a time when orphans were put into work houses and he never asked anyone for a dime but instead believed God for their provision and at the time of his death he was supernaturally feeding and housing over two thousand orphans by faith!

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father. "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." John 14:12-14
