Six Things The Lord Hates, Part I

These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look. Proverbs 5:16

God hates pride, haughtiness and arrogance of heart. It seems to be the very first time in Heaven that this evil made its appearance when Lucifer said that he would ascend the throne and be like the Most High God! Pride, being the opposite of humility dominates the world and even in the body of Christ men have exalted themselves as Lucifer did, elevating themselves with spiritual pride on a pedestal of arrogance!

Pride is the nature and character of Satan, it is a deadly evil that slowly elevates a person's heart with self reliance and a spiritual prowess over others, causing a remnant theology that exudes haughtiness and is a stench in God's nostrils. The prophet Isaiah speaking of the pride of God's own people said, "Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, making a jingling with their feet, therefore the Lord will strike with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will uncover their secret parts." Isaiah 3:16,17 God is serious about the condition of our hearts toward Him and others in that we, the people of God are to walk humbly and justly before our God!

I believe because of our proud looks of elitism in the church and our arrogance toward the world as if we are somehow better than everyone else that God has withheld His presence from His people. Brother James gives us insight into our journey to humility and exhorts us to repent and humble ourselves before a Holy God, deeply offended because of our prideful behavior!

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:8-10
