Set Your Eyes On The Eternal Prize

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, (going to Hell) whose minds the god of this age (Satan) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 2 Corinthians 4:3,4

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only source available to mankind to make a way for him to inherit salvation, without which he will perish in eternal damnation, being tormented and judged forever for his sins. For those who are perishing they are kept in the dark by a veil that covers their spiritual eyes so that they cannot believe and be saved.

I personally believe everyone is given a chance to hear the message of eternal life, whether preached or read, or shared by someone of faith, but very few receive the truth that is able to set them free from the bondage of sin and eternal death. The main reason today is attention span, (It has been calculated that our attention span is 8 seconds, a goldfish is 9) the ability to hold ones attention for more than a few seconds because of their hand held devices. Demonic distraction is keeping millions entertained by their addictions to social media, TV, or video games preventing the light of the gospel from piercing their heart with truth!

No time for God, no time to build solid relationships, no time to study, meditate or pray, with too many things to capture our attention, blinding us to that which is able to save our souls from destruction. Time is running out for the unbeliever because the only ones who have the truth are also distracted, so that no one hears the gospel of their salvation, sending millions to Hell!

While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:18

For we know that if our earthly house (dwelling) this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from Heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. II Corinthians 5:1,2

In these last days as we approach eternity, many are only concerned with storing up for retirement, having led good moral upstanding lives, they await a few short years of peaceful rest and relaxation having taken no provision for their eternal home. The only thing we will take off of this planet are our eternal souls and what we did, or didn't do in regards to eternal life.

Even in the body of Christ there has been a complacent cloud of delusion settle in, ignoring the signs of the times, they are only concerned with their own selfish lives, striving to keep up appearances and acting just like the world they were called out of. Like the proverbial frog in the pan they are desensitized in regards to those catastrophic events happening all around them and are lulled to sleep by their pillow prophets, prosperity preachers, self help gurus and false shepherds, come to fleece the sheep!

There is a day of reckoning coming in which we will all be judged for what we did in the kingdom of our Father, but many who thought they were safe in the harbor of their little sheepfolds will actually be found naked, stripped of any recognizable spiritual life.

For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. II Corinthians 5:4

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences. II Corinthians 5:10,11

Those of us who will stand before the judgment seat of the King of all kings will render an account for what we have done in regards to the "Talents" that we have received in the body of Christ. Many of the things we have done will not stand the test of time and will burn away before our eyes, being done in the flesh and not by the leading of the Spirit.

As I approach seventy years of age I feel a drawing towards the end and a reality that this life is coming to a close with the promise of eternal life just ahead at the end of the tunnel. I have deep regret for many of the things I have done in the Lord for the past thirty five years, and I know that I will have a bonfire of works that will ultimately go up in smoke. Even with the regret, I have an expectation of joy knowing that I will stand before a righteous Judge who has washed away my sins with His own precious blood and whatever the outcome, it is well!

For many who have felt secure because they joined a church, were baptized, took communion or are just relying on the fact that they led a good moral upstanding life, but were never "Born again" and never repented of their sins will have a very rude awakening. This is a time to take a hard look at the reality of your spiritual life and to come to the conclusion that you are either born again, washed in the Savior's blood or diving headlong into a Christ-less eternity to be tormented forever in the Lake of Fire!

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ appears then you also will appear with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4
