Putting On The New Man - A Study In Colossians, Part III

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6,7

Many a potential New Man has been aborted by the neglect of those who are deemed the "Fivefold" ministry team who are supposed to equip the newly born saints for the work of spiritual service in God's kingdom. These so-called leaders have gone out to make a name for themselves instead of paying attention to the ministry of discipleship in which they are called, a job not un-like the raising up of human children. Laying down a foundation of solid biblical doctrine in which the newly born again so need in order to grow and become rooted in their new found faith!

In the letter to the Colossian church the apostle Paul warned them not to be cheated by the traditions of men handed down through the ignorance of their leaders, untrained themselves and ill advised in the things of God. The newly born again Christian needs to know what it is to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ and how he is to walk in the spiritual realm of the kingdom in power and supernatural ability and not according to the basic principles of the world. The church today languishes in their inability to train and equip believers because they are in fact untrained themselves, fed a line of religious mush only on Sundays and are left to fend for themselves during the week only to finally die of starvation and total neglect by the residing ignorant leadership.

Jesus took twelve men untrained an illiterate for the most part and turned them into replicas of Himself filled with power and the presence of God they cast out devils, healed the sick, raised the dead and preached the un-compromised gospel of the kingdom to the lost and in three short years they were able to reside as apostles over thousands of new born believers! We are lucky today to be able to turn out a disciple in thirty years with our apathetic and pathetic way of so-called discipleship in which men are taught to be good pew sitters, or ushers or maybe even a deacon or two to help out with the offering or seat the congregation, but to equip the saints to do kingdom work, it is non-existent!

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly poison it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover." Mark 16:15-18

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him who is the Head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:9,10

Jesus has given the believer power and authority to rule and reign in His kingdom on earth, power to heal the sick, power to cast out devils, power to raise the dead and authority in His name to back it up! There is no greater power source available in the universe than that of the Lord Jesus Christ, given freely to His priesthood of saints to rule and subdue the powers of darkness so that they can no longer defeat the church of God! It is a travesty for the most powerful entity in the world to just sit and rot away in the pews of complacency waiting for the proverbial trumpet to blow and suck them up into glory!

I was born again in my living room, set free from a $2000.00 a week cocaine addition, alcoholism and a literal pharmacy of other dangerous opiates, grass and hash. Hopelessly lost, but gloriously saved God immediately began to train me in the ministry, first He sent me a thousand miles to be baptized in His Spirit where I met a man who taught me how to cast out demons, from there on my own under the watchful eye of Holy Spirit He began to teach me His word and brought people to me to be healed and delivered from all forms of sickness and bondage's through His powerful anointing freely given to us all who would dare to use it. For over 34 years I have been able to see and experience the glory and power of God setting people free, healing the sick, raising the dead and saving the lost which is what every disciple of Christ is called to do!

If you are a born again Spirit filled man or woman of God then you have a holy calling from the Lord to fulfill in your time upon the earth. You may not be a super-star preacher or prophet of the Most High, but none the less your calling is just as important to God who created you for His pleasure to do whatever He leads you to do. Don't ever under estimate your gifts and calling because you have been made a specific instrument in God's hands for a specific accomplishment of His in the earth. Now, what is more important in the entire universe than being used by God for His purpose and pleasure, I think, none? To serve in the kingdom of your heavenly Father is the greatest act of sacrifice and service that one can possibly accomplish in his entire lifetime and it is what you were designed for.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the beloved Ephesians 1:3-6

In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. Colossians 2:11,12

In order for one to become a New Man he must first be circumcised (the removal of flesh) of his sins by the washing of the blood of Christ by faith and be buried with the Lord Jesus in baptism and raised with Him to a glorious new birth. Jesus was the forerunner of the faith and His literal death, burial and resurrection was an example of how every New Man becomes a new creation in Christ!

Justification is the New Man receiving a pardon for his sin and rebellious life by repenting and turning away from evil in which he is forgiven of all past sins and generational curses being cleansed by the blood of Christ. Sanctification is the continual removal of strongholds and sins that hold the New Man in bondage by the fire of Holy Spirit that brings about godly sorrow and conviction to conform the New Man into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. Like the refining of gold and silver the metal must be purified with intense heat in order for all of the impurities to be brought to the surface to be removed and for the Refiner to finally see His image in the metal. The process of sanctification will continue throughout the life of every New Man until he receives the "Crown of Life" to be awarded to him as he enters into glory after he completes his journey with Jesus becoming a new resident in the kingdom of Heaven forever!

The old man of flesh is done away with as the New Man arises in the image of the Creator to rule and reign in the kingdom of Heaven on earth and to subdue the powers of darkness by establishing the foundation of the temple of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the building up of His body on the earth. Living stones knit together by the love of Christ fulfilling His purpose and plan to reap a harvest of new creation saints to reign in the kingdom of His Father. The spiritual kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ comprised of New Men formed in the fires of trial into the image of God and transformed by the power and glory of Holy Spirit's supernatural ability to restore fallen man back into his original state of perfection.

And you being dead in your trespasses (overstepping the boundaries set by God) and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made you alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting (certificate of debt owed) of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13,14
