Night of the Living Dead

I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night (spiritual darkness) is coming when no one can work. John 9:4

It seems that we are rapidly moving into a time of deep spiritual darkness, not only in America but around the world. In the past one hundred years and especially in the last fifty or so man has become obsessed with the darkness rather than the light of God. In the 1968 cult classic, "Night of the Living Dead" a movie in which people were resurrected by radiation and went about killing those who had not been exposed created a fascination with zombies. The dictionary defines zombie as a person who is, or appears to be, lifeless, apathetic, or totally lacking in independent judgment. Sound like today's culture, the walking dead, holding an i-phone up to their face, completely zoned out in cyber space?

Today's youth have been raised on zombies, vampires, werewolves and a vast array of other gruesome creatures and demonic entities battling not only one another, but vying for entrance to young minds. A supernatural invasion of darkness has created a race of people who live for themselves encapsulated in a virtual world of un-reality, lost in a hopeless state of fantasy and vain imagination. Have you tried to have a conversation with your kids, grand-kids or any other young person lately, if so you're probably just talking to yourself because they are engrossed with their electronic device. #attention-span-o. Lately everywhere you look there is a movie, TV show, or even in commercials a zombie or something that relates to zombies is creating an obsession with the living dead and is taking over the media.

When I first began to take notice of this phenomenon the Lord began to speak to me about what is really going on in the spiritual realm and what is happening in the minds of modern day humanity, a complete assault of the mind of man to conquer and control the thought life leaving absolutely no room for the word of God. The mind is the battle ground to control the individual and to inject his thoughts by seducing him with fantasy, lust and ultimately: darkness. When something becomes evident by an overwhelming majority, in this case: zombies, one has to take notice and hear what in fact God may be speaking to His church, because they have also been taken captive by the schemes of the devil, holding their minds captive and their thoughts filled with the lust and pleasures of the world!

"I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. (spiritual zombies) "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God." Revelation 3:1,2

But even if our gospel (good news of salvation) is veiled, (hidden) it is veiled to those who are perishing, (going to Hell) whose minds, the god of this age (Satan) has blinded who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. II Corinthians 4:3,4

When Jesus preached to the multitudes He often times said to them, "He that has eyes to see and ears to hear" meaning that many indeed did not see or listen to His words because they were spiritually dead. Millions perish without Christ because they are blinded to the very good news that has the ability to save them and deliver them from eternal death. Many a good man and woman has succumbed to Satan's schemes to blind them to the word of God by seducing them with the things of the world.

The devil cannot make anyone do anything, but he is a master manipulator and promoter when it comes to distracting someone's attention from the way of salvation. He even had the audacity to try and sidetrack Jesus in the wilderness with the temptations of the world. If the King of all kings had fallen prey to the devil's evil schemes we would have all perished without any hope of eternal life. This is why modern day evangelism in most cases doesn't work, because preachers have adopted the techniques of the world to win church members and not disciples of the Lord Jesus. Nickles, noses and numbers have replaced repentance from sin and deliverance from the bondage of eternal death, with a simple generic prayer without conviction.

The world is lost and in dire need of the Savior's love and mercy to receive the good news of their salvation given freely by the Lord Jesus Christ, but unless we, the church of the living God preach the whole truth and nothing but the truth without compromise and selfish motives there will be no hope for the lost multitudes perishing without Christ. The blood of millions will be on this generation's hands who refused to repent of tickling the ears of the lost with a lukewarm, shallow gospel of mush served up to the rich and famous by greedy self-help gurus to win their affection and not their soul! May God have mercy on us all!

For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears. Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, (repent) so that I should heal them. Matthew 13:15

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. II Corinthians 10:3-5

In order for one to obtain true spiritual life one must become born again and receive the Holy Spirit, who is the very life of God. Jesus said in the Gospel of John that He was life and the life was the light of men, in other words when a man has Jesus in his heart there is a spiritual light that shines forth from his spirit giving witness to those who observe him that he indeed is a new creation in Christ. The spiritually dead have no light, they only have life in their fleshly bodies but their spirits are dead to spiritual things.

The above mentioned scripture speaks of warfare for those who are spiritually alive and that their weapons are not of this world nor the battleground in which they fight. The new creation believer wars within his mind and with his spirit to defeat and deflect the flaming missiles of the devil injected into the thought life to distract or to lead astray from following God. Spiritual zombies are dead to the things of God being carnally minded and devoid of His Spirit and they can only become religious through ritual and mechanical repetition, having a form of godliness, but as the Word says, they deny it's power. The world is full of darkness and religion devoid of life that destroys the work of Christ with millions of demonic detours to lead people astray from the way of true salvation and ultimately they perish without the love of the Savior.

So, are you dead or alive, a zombie or a born again Christian? A question to be answered only by the spiritual fruit and life that shines forth from ones spirit? Many proclaim to be Christian but by their actions they deny the Savior who bought them with His own blood. The world is full of nice clean moral church members lost as a goose in a snow storm, but they are perishing, destined to Hell because they have never surrendered their hearts and life to the Lord Jesus Christ and received His Holy Spirit. Alive, but dead, they trudge onward to another dry and dusty service of man-made, man-centered, fleshly indulgence, serving the stale bread of religious duty, only to try and satisfy the guilt of not truly being a disciple of the living God!

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:11-13
