These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. I John 5:13
Multitudes of people struggle with knowing whether they are saved or lost eternally and because in these last days the gospel has been perverted and distorted so that it has lost it's power! The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried according to the scriptures and resurrected to give us a supernatural new birth through the shedding of His blood and the power of His Holy Spirit to transform us into new creations in Christ.
Many are confused about how one is saved and delivered from the bondage of sin and the subsequent consequences of eternal judgment in Hell! One question always arises that because God is a loving Father how could He send His children to an eternity of torment and judgment? The answer is that He is a just God and in Him there are no gray areas of partiality as there are with human beings. The law of God was given to expose man to his sin, for without law one cannot know he is guilty in need of salvation. In other words it would be like driving on a highway without speed limits giving you the right to drive as fast as you like, but all of a sudden you top a hill and you see a speed limit sign that says 55 and immediately you are convicted as a law breaker and so it is with God, once you are made aware of it you are convicted as one who has broken the law of God and in need of forgiveness.
That is why Jesus had to die because man was born in sin inherited from Adam in the garden of Eden when he and Eve disobeyed God by eating the fruit that God told them not to eat. Because of one man's disobedience all of mankind was stained with Adam's sin and in need of a Savior. Therefore everyone is born in sin and everyone has to become born again in order to receive eternal life and escape the judgment do to all who disobey God. This is the reason that being good cannot save you, nor good works, or going to church, taking communion or by being baptized, no, none of these can give you eternal life, only by repenting of your sins, believing in His death, burial and resurrection by faith and receiving His Spirit into your heart can truly save your soul. The gift of salvation is available to all who would surrender their life and will to the leading of God's Holy Spirit and follow the Lord Jesus wherever He leads.
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty (accountable) before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified (pardoned) in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19,20
THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH
For the wages (payment) of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Sin carries the curse of judgment and the penalty is death. Sin is disobedience to God who created us and the law was written to expose man to what sin really is. Every sin that man has ever committed was laid upon the Lord Jesus Christ, a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the wrath of a holy God who has been deeply offended by our actions! Salvation is accepting by faith the supernatural cleansing power of the blood of Christ to wash away ones sin, and then turning away from it in repentance after confessing them to God, asking for His forgiveness.
The heart of the gospel of good news is being forgiven before a holy God who gave His Son to die for what we should have been executed for. In other words the Lord Jesus Christ stepped up and took our sin that we are all guilty of committing and died a horrible death on a rugged tree to bleed out for us who deserved it. Every man and woman from that point onward has the choice to receive this greatest of all gifts to be forgiven, cleansed and delivered from from eternal damnation in Hell, or choose to stay in his lost state and one day stand before the "Great White Throne" judgment spoken of in Revelation reserved for the damned and render an account for his rebellious life of disobedience to be cursed forever in torment and mourning.
Millions have been, and are being deceived into thinking that they are going to Heaven because they are good, moral, upstanding citizens, church members, even Sunday school teachers, but have never been converted to Christ and cleansed of their sin, and in reality are only doing what they have learned from their forefathers, passed down through the ages, guarded by Satan himself to hold them captive, blinded by religious duty and the teachings of demons! Sounds diabolical (pertaining to demons) and in reality it is, and the world is perishing because of it, blind, deaf and dumb, like sheep led to the slaughter they trudge onward to another dead and lifeless funeral service led by men who are in many cases lost themselves, devoid of the truth that can set them free!
For if the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
FOR BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED THROUGH FAITH
And you He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit (Satan) who now works (in) the sons of disobedience, among whom also we once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, (the anger of God) just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3
The above mentioned scripture describes how Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit makes us alive in the Spirit by the miracle of the "New Birth" when He supernaturally resurrects us from the old life of the fleshly man to the born again spiritual man, re-created in the image and likeness of God. In order for one to experience the new birth he must first be willing to come to God and confess his sins, forsake his sins and turn away from them and then surrender to the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the only way to Heaven and by becoming born again is the only entrance for man to receive eternal life by grace through faith. Grace enables us to come to a holy God and also allows God to come to us in our time of need. When one begins to feel conviction about the condition of his eternal soul and the need to come to God in repentance, grace allows the presence of the Holy Spirit to cause the new birth through the total transformation from the death of the old man to new life in Christ! This act of supernatural power is a metamorphosis similar to the transformation of a worm to a butterfly. When one gives his heart to Jesus in a covenant oath of total surrender and devotion likened to a marriage vow, the power of God immediately brings about the born again experience.
As you can plainly see, becoming a born again believer in Christ is like the birth of a human infant, also a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit, in which the sowing of seed into a fertile human egg creates conception, so also the sowing of the Word of the living God into the fertile heart of man creates the conception of a brand new creation in the Spirit. The Word of God is supernatural seed that causes life to spring forth from that which is dead and causes the new creation birth of a spiritual man that will become reborn in the image of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17
CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27
The key to knowing you are saved, washed in His blood and secure in your spiritual journey is life, spiritual life that flows out of your innermost being. The very life of God is deposited in the heart of every believer who accepts the conditions of salvation by surrendering His life to the control of the Holy Spirit by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! When one becomes born again God's nature and character descends into the heart and soul of a person and sets up an eternal dwelling place making us the new temple of God.
If the Lord Jesus came to your home for a visit would things change because of His presence, would you know He was there, of course you would, and it is the same in the Spirit when He comes into the soul of man there is no mistaking His presence because He is now residing in you! As the scripture says, "Out of your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water," referring to the outward flow of the life of God through His Spirit. The Lord Jesus is now wanting to live His life in us and as time passes in the life of the believer and he rejects the will of the flesh and submits to the will of God he becomes conformed to the image of Christ!
As you can see the dynamics of kingdom life are not just the bowing of your head and muttering a prayer, joining the church or getting baptized, it is a total transformation of your body, soul and spirit allowing to be in subjection to the control of the Holy Spirit and the will of the Most High. Upon the total surrender of your heart you are no longer your own because you have been bought with the price of the blood of the Son of the living God! From now on the living Lord Jesus will live His life through you giving you an eternal hope of the very glory of God.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4,5
CHOOSE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE
But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" that is the word of faith which we preach: that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10: 8-10
The famous "Sinners's prayer" originated from the above mentioned verse of scripture that was preached, not from Romans, but was taken from the book of Deuteronomy, the 30th chapter and begins in verse 11. Within the context of this scripture it describes a covenant act of total surrender rather than what it has become today, a way to get your ticket punched for Heaven without changing your lifestyle. All of mankind has to choose whether he would be saved by the surrender of his will, or to remain in his lost state, only to eventually die in his sins and be damned forever in torment in the fires of Hell!
The choice is yours, you can choose to follow Jesus and lay down your life for Him in obedience, or you can continue to follow after the lust of the flesh and of the world and end up spiritually bankrupt in torment, damned for eternity! When one is born again he knows he is saved, not that at times there wont be doubt's and fears because we have an adversary that is always trying to defeat us and bring us down into a pit of depression, hopelessness and futility of mind, but the born again believer cannot live by feelings or emotional responses because we are called to live by faith, and in that faith we are strengthened will all power according to His glorious might and we are more than conquerors!
If you have questioned your salvation or have doubted that you have truly decided to follow Jesus, then cry out to Him and ask for His presence to flood your soul, repent of whatever sin is holding you in bondage and give your heart freely to the One who laid down His life for you, submit to the leading of His Holy Spirit and come out from the darkness of the world and He will meet you with open arms as a loving Father would for His lost child, He loves you and will confirm to you your eternal position by the indwelling presence of His Spirit. If you still have questions then go to our website in the message section under salvation and search the scripture for yourselves in order to know you have eternal life abiding in you! May God bless you with Holy Spirit assurance.
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3
WARNING: Salvation is not a system of steps to be followed, or a series of scriptures to be read, it is a love relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. One cannot make a mental ascent by praying a prayer without the giving of ones heart and soul to Christ in obedience and devotion forever, neither is it another dead and lifeless religious exercise, but a covenant vow of marriage to the "Bridegroom"and lover of your soul, King of all kings, Lord of all and Creator of the universe, the Lord Jesus Christ!
