For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears. Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them. Matthew 13:15
The parable or mystery of the sower has to do with the new birth experience giving example of those who either see the kingdom of God or do not. Today modern Christianity has blurred the lines of salvation so that everyone can come into their churches and join up. Born again, transformed by the power of God, Damascus road experience? Not necessary anymore! Just show up, shut up and write a check and leave the rest to us and it will be a pleasurable experience!
The gospel is the same today as it was when Paul preached it as well as Jesus and the rest of the apostles! It has not lost it's power to save if all the components are left in tact. It cannot be watered down, perverted, distorted, stretched or diminished in order to do what it is designed to do and that is to convict the sinner of his sin and deliver his soul from eternal damnation in Hell! Any other way preached to you is a lie from the pits of Hell and should be thrown out with all the other modern consumer driven nonsense being sold today among a naive bunch of believe anything sheep!
Jesus said that the truth would set you free and the truth is this: Jesus was crucified and suffered a horrific death on a wooden stake and literally bled out to save our souls, heal our diseases and forgive our sins! Should we in return insult the Holy Spirit by making light of what He did for us by watering down His gospel? Hell is full of good intentions, church members and nice moral good upstanding people who proclaim to belong to Christ but in reality never made Him Lord, never took up their cross and never became new creations in Christ! Hard to swallow, yes, hard to believe, yes, truth, definitely so, and the only way of salvation.
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert (distort) the gospel of Christ. But even we, or an angel from Heaven (Satan is an angel from Heaven), preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-8
THE THORNS OF LIFE
"And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them." Matthew 13:7
I would have to say that the thorns have taken out more people than any other thing in regards to following the Lord Jesus. The cares and worries of the world and the deceitfulness of riches have definitely choked the spiritual life out of literally millions of unsuspecting folks. Even mature believers are brought down by riches and pleasures, being distracted from their relationship with Christ!
Commercialized Christianity has seduced the church into get rich schemes and hyper prosperity for the past fifty years leaving them drained of any spiritual truth. Give a hundred dollars to my ministry and God will pay off your mortgage! Give a Lear Jet, get a Gulf Stream, give a Cadillac, get a Rolls Royce! What nonsense and yet people stream by the millions to hear these charlatans and false prophets bilk them out of millions and millions of dollars. I once met a young lady that went to one of these meetings who vowed to give $1000.00 a day for thirty days and God would open the windows of Heaven. She ended up giving all that she had and was left broke, discouraged and eventually lost her home. May God have mercy on those who follow these wolves in sheep's clothing!
People today are just too busy for God, no time for prayer or meditation on His Word and the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts has become over-run with the thorns, thistles and weeds of this life! With the advent of electronic devises of all kinds people are so distracted that they run into walls and each other, not to mention the rise of automobile accidents caused by texting. The outcome is devastating to the lost as well as the believer because their time is being stolen and their minds filled with the thorns of life!
"Now he who received seed among thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and he becomes unfruitful." Matthew 13:22
"Now he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." Matthew 13:23
King David was a man after God's own heart, he had a relationship with Him developed under the stars at night while guarding his father's sheep. Even though he suffered through many trials and tribulations he was always able to strengthen himself in the word and prayer. He always considered the mind of God when faced with battle or the direction he should take, and sought out the counsel of the Most High.
Even when he fell into an affair with Bathsheba and conspired to murder her husband after being confronted by the prophet Nathan, he humbled himself before God and repented of his sins and was restored again into fellowship with God. That is a heart that is pliable, one that has been prepared to plant the seed of the word of God. David was a man like us, human, frail and at times weakened by the temptations of the enemy, but also willing to confess his sin and be honest about the condition of his heart before God!
Good soil is a heart that is sensitive to Holy Spirit's voice, whispering the will and direction of God. A heart that has been plowed and hoed, broken by the very power of the Most High God and turned into soft and workable soil fit for the seed of Heaven!
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:9,10
