HOW TO RECEIVE LIVING WATER

"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. John 7:37

Living water is the Holy Spirit within us, given at the time of our conversion to Christ and subsequent baptism in the Spirit. When Jesus spoke this word He was speaking of the Holy Spirit whom those believing would receive.

We are Holy Spirit gardens bearing fruit for God and watered by the rivers of living water given to us from the very throne of God! A garden must be attended, cultivated and watered in order for it to bear fruit and continue to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We are known by our fruit and we testify of that which has been done for us by the Lord Jesus Christ!

Man thirsts for truth and living water in us bears witness to the truth of God's word. We are holy vessels of the Lord containing the water of life to be given out to all who hunger and thirst for righteousness!

"He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38

THE WELL OF THE WATER OF LIFE

"If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." John 4:10

The story of the Samaritan woman at the well is about how one receives the water of life from the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the well! This was the perfect scenario to tell someone about the saving grace of God. Jesus used the analogy of the living water and the conviction upon her by the Holy Spirit to save her soul!

In order for one to give witness to someone, allow the Spirit to show you their need, for it is out of need that people are saved and delivered. People who have no need rarely get saved, maybe they will walk an aisle or pray a prayer but unless the Holy Spirit has convicted them of their sins it is a futile act that will render no fruit!

The good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the fact that He died for our sins and iniquities and we must be convicted as lawbreakers and sinners in order to be saved. Just praying a prayer as if it was some magical potion to save you without the conviction of Holy Spirit is to no avail! Jesus convicted the Samaritan by revealing her five marriages and the fact that she was living in adultery with another.

"Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, "but whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13,14

TREES PLANTED BY THE RIVER

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, (Word of God) and in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1,2

We as believers are trees of the field of God, supernatural beings, we bear fruit and grow in the grace, mercy and knowledge of the Most High! The living water that sustains us as spiritual men and women comes from meditating on God's word day and night.

Most of the supernatural things of God bypass the mind of man, as an example, the gift of tongues doesn't make any sense to the natural, carnal mind because they are of the Spirit and not the flesh! In order to obtain living water one must open his heart and meditate on the scripture so that it will supernaturally enter his spirit and become a revelation from God.

Bible study is good but it can lead to just storing up knowledge rather than receiving divine revelation given by Holy Spirit. It is quality and not quantity, so we must meditate and ponder what God is saying to us in His word and allow the written word or logos to become a rhema word that speaks to your spirit, giving you edification and a personal message from God.

He shall be a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:3
