Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

When God becomes the delight of our life He begins to put His desires in our heart and so we begin to desire what He does, those things of the Spirit that produce real spiritual life and peace. Our natural, fleshly minds have a tendency to think about worldly things but God's thoughts are the things of the Spirit.

For instance, we delight and have desires for a man or a woman, a car, a home or a good job, but God said He would provide those things. He on the other hand desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. His world view is different than ours in that the most valuable things in this world are the souls of mankind!

To delight in Him is simple by having the mind of Christ! This comes by renewing our minds and setting them on heavenly things that will produce for us a delight in His desires! So set your desires on heavenly things and the desires of your heart will begin to change.

Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way. Establish Your word to Your servant, Who is devoted to fearing You. Turn away my reproach which I dread, For Your judgments are good. Psalm 119:33-40

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Psalm 37:5,6

Our salvation is a lifelong commitment to the Lord, submitting our lives, committing our possessions, family and livelihood to Him who created us and at the right time, saved and delivered us from the world!

We are no longer our own to command, because we have been bought with the price of the Savior's blood that washed away our sins and made us into new creations in Him! He is now the Head and we are His supernatural body in the earth, called to carry on His work, to make disciples of all nations!

If you are born again, you are no longer led by the flesh but by His Spirit. The bonds of this world have been broken and you are not your own anymore. Everything we do must be committed to Him and approved by His Spirit! If that bothers you, it means you still have some of the rebellion of the world that promotes self reliance! All such behavior must be repented of before you can walk in peace with Jesus as your Lord.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:13-17

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Psalm 37:7

To rest in the Lord is one of the hardest things for believers to learn because the nature of the flesh wants to lead us and so we get way ahead of the Lord! To rest is to submit to the leading of the Spirit in all that we do!

I am very impatient and impulsive, two very dangerous traits to have and it has taken years to get them under control. Being in prayer meetings with those who were seasoned believers and some missionaries when I was first saved used to drive me nuts to hear how they had to ask God for everything in their lives!

God had to teach me to listen and quit knocking down doors whenever I wanted something. Years ago I was trying to get a job at a large packing house to rebuild one of their machines and kept pestering them to get it when one day I was on my way down there for a meeting when on the news, an ammonia line broke on the floor where I would have been and killed the ones I was dealing with! Needless to say, I learned to listen!

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10
