HOW TO TRUST GOD
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
The Word says to trust Him with all your heart, not your mind, that comes next. Trusting God is like falling in love with someone as your heart begins to allow them to enter a relationship with you. Infatuation leads to love and love leads to a solid relationship of trust. We trust those we love!
In order for one to trust God with the mind involves a renewing and restoration of ones mind. Your understanding of things must be changed from a fleshly, worldly view to a spiritual one. You must clean out the old and allow that which is new to fill your mind with the things of the Spirit. The Word instructs us to set our minds on things above and not on the earth!
The third thing is to acknowledge Him in everything we do, not ourselves or someone else but Him and Him alone, that in itself is one of the hardest things to do because of our own rebellious and selfish nature. He must become preeminent in our lives so that our trust is in no-one else!
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1,2
FEAR THE LORD
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones. Proverbs 3:7,8
The Word says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the wisdom of God is far greater than anything the world offers! In order to develop your trust in God you must be free from fear, doubt and unbelief.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind. Once we are free from fear we can trust our God to completely take over our lives and provide for us His healing benefits and His supernatural strength. Separation from the world is necessary in order to be free from its grip that produces a self-reliant spirit that hinders our ability to trust God!
You cannot trust God and walk in the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of this world. God said to depart from evil and loving the world is evil! When we set our affections on this world we commit spiritual adultery that causes us to become enemies of God!
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity (ill will and mutual hatred) with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4
Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9,10
It has been said that the last thing to get saved is a man's billfold, because if God has a man's money He has his heart! The truth is that any wealth we may obtain is really not ours, it is His who allowed us to have it in the first place.
Our wealth is to be a constant flow of blessing from us to whomever God leads us to give to, unlike the tithe, the 10% spoken of in the Old Testament, New Testament giving is Spirit led giving! The body of Christ possesses more wealth than they could ever imagine stored in the vaults of Heaven awaiting our prayer for God to provide!
The Word instructs us to give and because of our obedience it will be given back, pressed down, shaken together and running over! For by our standard of measure it will be measured back to us! So, put your trust in the trust account of Heaven and be led in your giving so that your vats will overflow and your barns may be filled with plenty!
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. II Peter 1:2-4
