Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have 1 provided Myself a king among his sons." I Samuel 16:1

David, the sweet psalmist of Israel, shepherd boy, a man after God's own heart, mighty warrior and King of Israel was a target for Satan from his youth! Remember the devil is like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour, but he never goes after the strong, he waits for the weak, the sick and the stragglers!

He killed a lion and a bear while keeping his father's sheep, with a sling in hand he hit the giant Goliath and took his head. Saul appointed him commander of the armies of Israel and David killed tens of thousands of the enemy, to the extent that King Saul grew jealous and plotted to kill him. David's God given strength and ability came from the anointing he received and his wisdom as a military commander also came from the Most High!

After Saul's demise and David finally became Israel's king he acquired wives and riches, children and great accolades from his military exploits, but he began to grow weary of the battle and one year he stayed back from going to war. This was the devil's chance to snare him by tempting him with forbidden fruit, one of his mighty men's wife, Bathsheba. He saw her bathing from his porch, brought her to his bed and the rest is history!

Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. II Samuel 11:2

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. II Timothy 2:22

Samson and David, two of the strongest men on the planet, both succumbed to lust. Samson, because his character never caught up to his anointing and David who became weary and was too tired to fight off the spirit of lust that took him down! It cost Samson his life and David who was guilty of two death sentences, murder and adultery, although forgiven the consequences of his actions followed him to the grave!

Flee and pursue as the scripture states, resist the devil and he will flee, in other words when tempted turn and run and pursue that which the Lord wants us to seek that brings about peace and be accountable to someone so that you can share what you are dealing with. Neither Samson or David had anyone to be accountable to and so they had to deal with their issues alone, a huge mistake for believers.

There is power for two or three to agree and stand together against the schemes of the devil, but alone all you have are the lies of Satan trying to convince you to go ahead and sin, after all God would want you to have whatever the desires of your heart are seeking! Has God said, "You surely shall not die!" It worked in the garden with Adam and Eve and it will work with you if you give in to his lies and deception!

Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:13-16

To break a stronghold or to be cleansed of any sin there are various ways to go about it, for personal sin come before the Father and confess whatever you have done, repent and He will forgive you and the blood of Jesus will cleanse you. For sickness, or to be delivered of a spirit or spirits call for the elders of the church or a person or persons who are familiar with deliverance.

There is power in the unity of the church and great strength in the agreement of two or more brothers or sisters to pray for you and to confess before them, being accountable to someone which will help you obtain freedom. We as the body of Christ must join together in these last days to break the chains of the devil and to pull down strongholds in order for God's people to be free from bondage and the oppression of the powers of darkness!

In these stressing times of uncertainty there are many demonic strongholds in the world and in America such as abortion, the premeditated murder of the unborn, rebellion, addiction and the many religious cults, satanic traps and schemes, racism and the ever present strongholds of Baal and Jezebel which have wreaked havoc among families and even in governments! My prayer for you as the army of the Lord Jesus Christ is for you to arm up, show yourself approved to God and be prepared for spiritual war!

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:7-10
