You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. I Thessalonians 5:5

There is a distinction in the scriptures between the sons of the light and the sons of darkness, sons of light are filled with the light of the Lord Jesus Christ and the sons of darkness are filled with sin and demons. When one is born again the light of the Lord illuminates his spirit and he is then known by being a son of light! The newly born son then begins to let his light shine in the world to bear witness of the light of God!

The scripture states in 1 John 5:11-13 that we can know that we have eternal life, and that life is the possession of Christ in our hearts that shines through, acknowledging our life in Him! In other words when Jesus comes into our spirit by the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit, our lamp is lit and we can then discern who is born again and who isn't. No one has to guess whether or not you are a believer because you exude the very life and light of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Once our spiritual lamps are lit our ministry becomes evident that we are to shine in dark places, giving light to those who have none. It is like walking into a dark room and striking a match, the light illuminates the whole room with the brilliance of its shining. Believers are likened to lighthouses in that people who are lost can find safe passage leading to eternal life in Christ by being drawn to our light.

Imagine what the body of Christ could do if they would only shine forth into the darkness of a world that is in desperate need of God's light and life. The light would eventually take over and illuminate the entire world as the darkness would fade away and we would shine as the day! Is your light shining or are you hiding it as the scripture says, under a basket? Go and let it shine!

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4,5
